Friday’s Feats and Fails

Easter weekend is upon us and I’m excited. I always look forward to Easter and all the fun extravaganza of the Easter bunny’s arrival and seeing my son’s excitement. It’s the only time I allow chocolate before breakfast or even candy for breakfast! Well let’s get to the good stuff have a wonderful Easter. πŸ˜ƒ

FEAT

I had a really relaxing weekend my husband let me sleep in Sunday and then I spent the morning beta reading. Then we switched off and he napped, while the kids played hockey in the backyard and I started a marathon of the Outlander on tv! Oh my gosh I’m so hooked on it I have to start reading the books!!! Oh be still my Celtic heart. ❀️ I was very fortunate to be a guest post on the http://thehappylifeaholic.wordpress.com

She’s an amazing and inspiring woman and I feel blessed that she gave me that honour. You can see my interview here: https://happylifeaholic.wordpress.com/2015/03/24/thl-interview-jeanine-lebsack/

FAIL

Due to my beta reading I got a little behind on my housework so I had to do a mad scramble before my Mad dog’s birthday party. It was ok though because overflowing laundry baskets can always be stuffed in a closet. πŸ˜‰ My husband helped me by vacuuming and I quickly tidied, organized toys, and bedrooms, and made up the goodie bags. It’s so wonderful when we work as a team, I feel less overwhelmed when I have his support.

FEAT

My husband and I pulled off a great party for our little four year old. We weren’t sure how well things would go because four of the guests were sick and unable to attend. So the two other kids (brothers) showed up with their Mom. It was a wonderful day as the kids are close in age and my husband and I enjoyed getting to know their Mom. It was a blast while the kids played, snacked, and we had a yummy Thomas cake to dive in.

Our birthday boy and his cake face. 😘❀️

This cake was so delicious. πŸ˜‹

FEAT

It’s been a short school week so I’ve got all the laundry baskets folded and put away except for two. I’ve been getting the kids to help me more so I feel better about that. My youngest enjoys helping me, while the oldest grumbles but if wants screen time certain chores have to be done. I was able to have a nice visit with my in-laws as they were just passing through and stayed the night. Once again my house is always at its cleanest an hour before company comes. So we had Chinese food, relaxed and had a few cocktails while the kids entertained us. I took my Captain out of school early and then took him to an appointment to meet the infant and adolescent psychiatrist. He took him for the first half of the visit and then we went in towards the end. My Captain really liked this therapist and said he’d love to go back to see him. He doesn’t think there’s a need for my oldest son to start medication and will write up a report for our paediatrician saying so. I left there feeling like I was on cloud nine finally someone that understood that not every issue in children needs to be medicated. I recognize it’s needed in some cases as well as therapy so I wasn’t completely opposed to it.  Im happy to say that we’ll continue doing what we’re doing with managing his anxiety and getting the school to fill out paperwork to help him with his sensory needs there.

So that brings us to the  weekend of TGIF day so I send you Easter blessings  to you all. Hug your loved ones close, and remember the reason for the season. Thank you for stopping by now it’s time to link up with me and More Than Cheese and Beer and let us know how your week was. 😊🐰🌸🐣

Friday Feats and FailsΒ

Hello Friday where have you been? I’ve been searching for you since Monday and couldn’t find you. Whenever you show it up its so wonderful and when you leave I’m so sad. Let’s enjoy the time we have together before another twenty four hour day comes and whisks you away.

FEAT

I had a great weekend wrap up to my Captain’s hockey season. On the Saturday it was the Dad’s versus the kids game. My husband was the goalie for the kids side. Every time one of them scored he skated to the blue line and high fived them. The Captain loved playing hockey with his Dad, and  I could see and feel his pride. *Sigh* how I love that man with all my heart. ❀️ On Sunday we had a wind up party at the pool. We swam, soaked, dived, played, and slid on the waterslide. It was an absolute blast, I even ran into an old work friend I hadn’t seen in ten years!!!  A great day shared with great company. I can’t wait till the next hockey season. Now onto to decide what the next sport will be. Soccer, baseball, golf, or lacrosse. The choices are endless in the big city!

FAIL

I had to deal with some confusion in regards to my youngest son’s health journey. I applied for finding through my province and received back a letter stating I didn’t have enough medical information. So I contacted my Paediatrician to ask her help. She got very ignorant with me and told me she couldn’t give me a diagnostic letter. I told her I wasn’t asking for that, I was asking for her to write up a letter stating that she made referrals to the children’s hospital. She said she put the referrals in and I needed to be patient and wait and get a diagnostic letter from the neuropsychologists. I responded I don’t want to wait I’m only going to be a case file till the end of May and I’ll have to apply again! She responded with more ignorance and said she could write me up a letter but it’s not covered by my insurance. I just need something that says she’s tested my child and the referrals are going through for more tests. So that will be $100 dollars for two letters ugh I’ve never wanted to throat punch someone so badly before! 😑

FEAT

Ive managed to keep my house fairly clean and get out and enjoy some beautiful spring weather. I also did a meet and greet in town where I didn’t know a soul. I even made some new friends and I went to geocaching three times this week. I love treasure hunting and finding little treasures its so much fun. My kids love it too, especially my youngest as he adds new treasures to his collection. 😊

FAIL

I managed to have ten clean laundry baskets throughout the week so yay me!!! I have four folded, three put away, and three to be folded. I’m totally owned by my bitch laundry. It’s just easier to light a match and walk away. Either that and walk around naked, I’d probably have to invent some creative excuse as to why I was. πŸ˜‰

I wish I had this sink , I’d spend a lot more time in my laundry room. πŸ˜‰πŸ·

FEAT

I was brave this week I stood up for my beliefs and didn’t allow the professionals to dictate to me what I was thinking or saying. I resisted the urge to throat punch bitches, and pushed back when I felt cornered. I crossed my hurdle and started seeing a therapist. I wrote from my heart even though it pained me. It was for the #1000 speak compassion movement called building from bullying. I verbally puked that story out of me as I wrote about my experience of being bullied for a year in high school. I’ve been so fortunate to have it published on the http://www.originalbunkerpunks.com. And my lovely friend bought me a t-shirt to celebrate. I made some new friends and connected with old ones. If you look up in the dictionary for the definition of brave you’ll find my picture. I’ve also been blessed to be nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award from the fabulous https://one mothertoanother.com.  I also guest blogged for https://happylifeaholic.com. FAIL

I’ve been fortunate to be co-host this segment Friday’s Feats and Fails recently with the lovely http://www.morethancheeseandbeer.com. And my big fail is not getting my link up in time and to share and promote within social media. I have no excuse but to say I got so busy with trying to complete a book review project, planning my Mad dog’s birthday party, and ran out of time and sleep doing all the above!!! I haven’t been a very good sister and I’ve needed to make apologies for that. I’ve judged a friend harshly for the decisions she’s made, and with zero patience left in my bucket I’ve yelled at my kids, husband, and anyone else who pissed me off.😣

FEAT

I took a personal day on Wednesday and read all day. I of course parented and enjoyed myself immensely. I need to have more days like that. I was reading the sequel anthology to I just want to pee alone. Oh my sides still ache from laughing and my eyes are red and swollen from crying. Funny, touching, hilarious, and a much needed feel good book. You can read my reviews over at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Special thanks to the awesome http://www.tracyontherocks.com who’s featured in this fabulous book for this wonderful opportunity. Please check out her latest blog post that has the links to all of the lovely Jen Mann books. 😘❀️

I want to be in the next group with these amazing, funny, talented, group of writers! I’m fangirl crushing on all of them. ❀️

*Update*

My cousin and her family have been home from the hospital for a week tomorrow. Amazing Grace has been growing well, putting on weight, catching up on sleep, and doing so incredible. Thank you to everyone for sharing/contributing to the Go fund me. All the proceeds will go to providing whatever services, and baby supplies that Grace will needed. And thank you to everyone for all your prayers and support. My family is so grateful for all the kindness bestowed on their precious baby girl. πŸ’–

Friday’s Feats and Fails

Hello Friday where have you been all week? I have been waiting all week for today. I look forward to relaxing with my family and since my Netflix is still MIA I’ve bought a couple more movies. I wish I could figure out how to fix it. So now I have to take the time to contact the company and see if they can help me. I’ve banned my children from touching the remote controls so when I do get this resolved it won’t happen again. Well enough about that let’s chat about my week.

FEAT

Last weekend was a fun skating day at the Captain’s arena and he had fun shooting slap shots with his team mates. We had a relaxing Sunday of playing, reading, writing, and movie watching. On Monday I had a great meeting and managed to cross a few things off my giant to do list. Then on Tuesday I had respite and I did some shopping and got my hair done. It was four months of growth and it was a relief to see it gone! My bangs were eight inches long and I had zero style, except wearing an awesome hat. Who would’ve thought that all that hair was weighing down my spirit?!

A before and after picture of my hair cut. I felt so great I could’ve bench pressed a Buick.! πŸ˜ƒ

FAIL

Laundry, laundry, laundry, I believe that’s enough said. I got five loads folded and still need to put away. Now there’s another five waiting in the wings. My friends is their life after laundry? I would say yes, but I’ve been to park everyday this week to provide fun and OT to my Mad dog. It’s been great enjoying the sunshine but nothing is getting done. 😳

FEAT

My cousin and her family got amazing news and were able to go home this week. Little Amazing Grace is off the bottle and completely breastfeeding. She was released from the hospital on the Sunday weighing 4 lbs, 4 oz. and after being home for five days she’s already up to her birth weight of 4 lbs, 11 oz!!! Her cardiologist appointment showed nothing wrong with her heart, and the Doctor’s are impressed with her feeding. For a baby that had the odds stacked against her and specialists were foreseeing what she could and couldn’t do, she is not only surviving she is thriving!!! Amazing Grace is a testament to the human spirit, of never giving up. The doctor’s can never predict that capacity of strength or the love that heals.  I look forward to the updates on Facebook and recently there’s been a Go fund me account set up for all the services that Amazing Grace will need. Such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech and language therapy. As well as what’s needed for her daily baby needs. Thank you for all your love, support, and prayers. My cousin and her fiancΓ© are appreciative of all the love shown to their precious Amazing Grace. πŸ’–

FAIL

I haven’t had a lot of sleep lately, so many things on my mind and the fear of the unknown can keep me awake. I know I can’t control the future and it doesn’t make sense to worry about it. But I’m just a overwhelmed Mom that gets scared sometimes and my banged up, bruised, bandaged, heart shows through. With the sleep deprivation and exhaustion setting in my patience bucket starts to empty. I had a long day yesterday and I just wanted to make the Captain’s lunch, and watch my Grey’s Anatomy. I’m a fanatic about that show and I never miss it. After picking me up from the city and getting home late my kids were still up and hyper. I finally got them to bed at 9 pm. Not usually there bed time so they were over tired and getting their second wind. I went downstairs and got ready to watch tv and then I couldn’t find the remote. DVD’s without any cases were strewn about, popcorn, and granola bars wrappers everywhere; andit looked like it puked Toys R Us!!! I started yelling, cursing, and cleaning. Which caused everyone to get upset and then my husband found the remote and set up the tv for me. I appreciated his help especially after my verbal tirade. So I finally relaxed and decompressed while watching some TV. Welcome to life in my world, where we roll with the punches and I donate to my swear jar daily.

Did Derek cheat on Meredith? Or did these lovely ladies just hear me swearing? ☺️

Even when we think we know the future even for a second it changes. Assuming the worst can happen, or we step forward into the unknown and assume it will be brilliant. -Christina Yang (actress Sandra Oh)

I really hope that these two will make their long distance work? πŸ’ž

FEAT

Yesterday I did some fundraising for my theatre group at the casino. I put in a long nine hour day there and got to know some more people, and secrets were shared in what I dubbed “the cage of truth.” I hadn’t seen anyone since December at our last performance so there were happy hugs and hellos exchanged. This was all positive and just what I needed to lift my spirits. πŸ˜ƒ

So he we are back at Friday again that’s my week in review. How was yours? It’s time to link up with me and the lovely Ash from More Than Cheese and Beer. ❀️

Fridays Feats and Fails

It’s Friday one day closer to the weekend and wow what a week it’s been!!! I’m excited to share it with you. So let’s get to it shall we? I’m so happy and honoured to be co-hosting Friday’s Feats and Fails with the awesome Ash from http://www.morethancheeseandbeer. This is a new adventure for me so I feel giddy with excitement. πŸ˜ƒπŸŽ‰πŸ’ƒ

FEAT-Amazing Grace

My beautiful cousin brought her baby into the world and I haven’t stopped crying since! Amazing Grace was diagnosed in utero as having mosaic triploidy. According to Wikipedia.org research Triploid syndrome is an extremely rare chromosomal disorder. Individuals with triploid syndrome have three of every chromosome, i.e. a total of sixty-nine rather than the normal forty-six chromosomes. There are only sixty recorded cases across the world. Thanks to the research I found on http://www.mommiesofmiracles.com I’m understanding a lot more. These children are blessings, and although there genetically different abled, they are beautiful gifts to the world.

A Mother’s Love πŸ’—

Amazing Grace was brought into the world on Tues, March. 10 th at 6:04 am she had a healthy delivery and Mom and baby have been doing well. Grace had a defect with her heart diagnosed in utero and no one has known how long she would be earth side. After receiving a heart scan yesterday my cousin was happy to report this morning, that there are NO signs of the defect!!! God is creating miracles for my family daily as Amazing Grace has been defeating the odds against her since her conception. Just yesterday she opened up her eyes for the first time her Uncle held her. Oh and what a beautiful moment that was!  There has been an amazing photographer that has been capturing Grace’s journey with her Mom and Dad. All images are by Love by Krista Evans Photography and she and my cousin have allowed me to share them with you today. πŸ’•

A Father’s Love ❀️

I read all the updates eagerly each moment that my cousin posts them. Today Grace will have a brain scan as she was also diagnosed with agenisus of corpus callosum. According to research from Wikipedia.org (ACC) is a rare birth defect (congenital disorder) in which there is a complete or partial absence of the corpus callosum. It occurs when the corpus callosum, the band of white matter connecting the two hemispheres in the brain, fails to develop normally, typically during pregnancy.

Amazing Grace is being tested and evaluated in preparation to going home! She’s  classified as a strong baby, despite the disorders and her early arrival of eight days before her due date. The amount of love and prayers that are surrounding Grace and her parents is incredible! Thanks to Krista at Love by Krista Evans Photography 12,000 people have seen my family’s pictures. To me that means that 12,000 people are joining in prayer power! You can view Krista’s amazing body of work here:

The love, pride, and powerful energy emanating from this family fills my heart to the brim. πŸ’–

FAIL

I’ve been keeping as positive as I can considering how precious life really is. And my own son has to undergo genetic testing for Fragile X and ASD. According to Wikipedia.org Fragile X  is a genetic syndrome. Nearly half of all children with fragile X syndrome meet the criteria for a diagnosis of autism.[1] It is an inherited cause of intellectual disability especially among boys. It results in a spectrum of intellectual disabilities ranging from mild to severe as well as physical characteristics. I’ve had my moments when I’ve dissolved into tears, yelled, cursed, and locked myself away in my pity party of one.

My incredible family has shown me I can have those moments but I just can’t unpack and live there. So other than not cleaning since last weekend, not keeping up with folding my laundry as that relentless bitch is owning me. I’ve been enjoying the sunshine, adventuring with my kids, and counting my blessings. And really appreciating the miracles in life like Amazing Grace’s journey with her phenomenal parents. The strength they’ve shown has been remarkable. In my cousins words to prepare for a life half way through pregnancy, then a possible death, back to preparing for her baby’s life is an extraordinary blessing. I know God will continue to watch over and bless them as they are all miracles of the heart.  πŸ’ž

Amazing Grace.πŸ’–

FEAT

My Captain’s hockey play off round ended for him last Saturday. It was a disappointing loss with some questionable referee calls that ended in a 2-1 loss. It was an exciting game, but I’ll be honest and say this part of being a hockey Mom really sucks. It was so hard to see those disappointed expressions on those sweet children’s faces. They played a great game though and they still have their practices, parents against the kids game, and windup party to look forward too. It was Father son time the next day as my husband took our Captain to work. They both looked so handsome as they dressed up in a shirt and tie. I haven’t seen my son dressed up since his first communion last year. It struck me how fast he’s growing up! I’m so proud of his accomplishments on and off the ice. ❀️

I have so much pride for my Captain and his team. πŸ˜ƒ

We also had a major accomplishment as my little Mad dog and I attended the play group specifically for children with special needs. He loved it there as it was fun and manageable with a small group of kids. The most touching moment was when my son thanked me for his happy. I was in awe of him and his gift of understanding in the moment. After the group we attended the indoor playground and he did very well being around more children and some noise. We were both happy to nap when we got home. 😴

“Thank you for my happy Mommy.”

So here we are back to Friday and since our Netflix is M.I.A. due to Mad dog resetting all the information we’ll be watching movies. My wonderful husband picked up Night at the Museum for family movie night and Mocking Jay Part 1 for after they go to bed. Thank you for being here today and please check out everyone else’s post who links up today. πŸ’•

That’s my Friday’s Feats and Fails how’s your week been?

Friday Feats and Fails

Wow what a week it’s been, hard to believe it’s almost March! I for one am glad that spring is around the corner. February being the shortest amount of days on the calendar sure feels like the longest month of the year. My parents both passed away in this month. So there’s always that pull of my heart towards connecting with them again. I worked on something that I’m happy to share with you today. So let’s gets to the details and then the fun stuff after.

FEAT

Hockey fills my weekends so I was able to attend both of my Captains games and they won! The first one was an 8-5 victory and the second was a come from behind win of 4-3. That game was so exciting, the score was tied 2-2 in the second period and then the opposing team scored in the beginning of the third. There was a breakaway and my son’s team mate scores  to tie it up. With some bad bounces it looked like the opposing team might just win, as our team was short handed with a player in the penalty box. With only 15 seconds left in the period our team scores to lead 4-3 with a win. Now it’s semi finals this weekend so I’ll be cheering and wearing my team jersey. Proud hockey Mom in the house!!!

FAIL

My husband went away on business so no one slept well in the household. Without enough sleep we’re like a bunch of toddlers being short tempered with one another. We had a particularly rough morning as my Captain slept in and refused to go to school. So I took him to a councillor to discuss his anger. I didn’t want to argue anymore so we went down to the office and was told they were booked. I said how is that possible you just opened? I didn’t receive a lot of help so I got very vocal and demanded I see someone that day. The worst thing is to turn away someone who’s struggling and tell them to come back the next day and still don’t offer any help.

FEAT

I really didn’t want my kids to see me get upset but I compared my experience to a car who was running on empty without enough gas in their tank. They understood why I fought so hard for them. I’m always the squeaky wheel getting the grease, and my Dad always said I missed my calling to be a lawyer; on the account I like to argue. I did push to get seen and then an appointment opened up for later that afternoon.

FAIL

Lack of sleep, is equal to lack of patience and zero desire to clean and organize my home. So the laundry piled up, as well as scrubbing and cleaning. My husband came home and the upstairs was clean minus bathrooms I need to sanitize. I pulled out the couch and discovered a multitude of sins hiding there. So I will be inspired to tackle the rest after hockey.

FEAT

I’m so proud and happy that a story I wrote got published on the Original Bunker Punk site. As well as being chosen for the #1000 speak compassion movement!!! You can check out my story here.

 http://originalbunkerpunks.wix.com/originalbunkerpunks#!A-Cup-of-Kindness-by-Jeanine-Lebsack/c1kod/15FA560B-DFDA-420F-AC08-901D7D8D502E

FAIL

I scheduled an appointment for both the Captain and I to talk with a therapist. I’m glad I took that step because we both have been locked in a power struggle and needed some intervention. Mad dog was enjoying playing with the toys and was quite upset to have to leave. He grabbed a box and ended up ripping it, and biting me. It really sucked as I had to pick him up screaming and leave the office. I handled it the best I could but it’s been a very long week and I cried as soon as I got home. While I was preparing dinner my kids went outside to look at the stars. It warmed my heart to know even with a rocky start to our day, we could end it on a positive note.

FEAT

I joined this blogging challenge group and I was able to stretch out of my comfort zones with my first assignment. It was a lot of fun and getting some positive feedback on it. You can check it out here.

http://youtu.be/AA6Yf5SqlmM
I find the more new things I try the better I feel. I have people that ask me how I manage with little sleep, a lot of busy ness, and children who have some special needs. I just don’t think about it, I just do it. And little challenges that push me to see what I’m made of as a writer and entertainer feed my soul.

FAIL

We had Dr’s appointments scheduled this week and there’s never a fun outing. The Captain had a physical to do and I had to talk him into going. I got chastised for bringing his little brother to the appointment. I told her I didn’t have people, my husband was away on business, and I didn’t have anywhere to take him. I only get respite once a week and it’s so I can have a break. She explained she just couldn’t do a consult with having my youngest there, I told her I understood but where was a supposed to put him on my roof? Professionals just don’t get it, even if they have children. I don’t have babysitters lined up to look after my children whenever I need them. Plus I need to find someone who’s qualified to deal with my Mad dog when he gets sensory overloaded.

FEAT

I have managed to keep up with my blogging challenge group as well as my Writing 101-Poetry challenge. Emotionally I’ve been detached because I’ve needed to really focus mentally on not sinking into a self induced depression. Missing my parents and there influence in my life is something I have always struggled with. I just keep trying to build that new “normal” around my heart. I actually despise that word and I write some poetry and completed this blogging challenge assignment. You can check it out here.

http://youtu.be/ZYAiSVZHZbA

And here we are at the end of the week going into the semi finals with hockey, Dr’s and therapists scheduled into the fabric of our lives. Now time to have some fun, prepare for adventures, and start jumping over those obstacles one at a time. Onward and upward my friends, until our next story needs to be written enjoy your weekend. Smooches. 😘

This has been my submission to Ash’s Friday’s Feats and Fails of http://www.morethancheeseandbeer.com. Check out her week and all the other talent that link up.

Friday’s Feats and Fails

Wahoo it’s Friday last week I was drinking beer with my husband this week I’m drinking wine with my sister and niece!!! I love when they come to visit it’s like the sun starts shining bright on my heart. πŸ’— So let’s do a roundup of how my week was. Cheers my dear readers. 🍷

FEAT

It was hockey weekend and we were off on a road trip. I was so excited to get out of town and do some socializing. I got everyone packed up and we were ready to go in record time. And SIRI even cooperated by giving us better directions when we figured it out in map quest, it was quicker to go around the city than through it! My sons were occupied and for once not driving each other to screaming fits.

FAIL

We were 40 kms from our destination and a bad snow storm blew in. That’s life in the Prairies. Everything’s so flat you can literally see it roll in. We saw some erratic driving as the roads turned to ice very quickly. People were passing us and landing in the ditch every five kms, it was so scary. My youngest was sleeping and my oldest was enthralled with his video game, none the wiser. I was so stressed by the time we arrived at the hotel my fingernails had embedded creases in the palms of my hands!!! I cracked open a beer and I was still shaking!

FEAT

It was a busy weekend and the Saturday morning game was at 8 am. It was very early but I had everyone organized to go the night before so it was a case of being motivated. My Captain played a great game and they won 4-3. They had a break and then we ate and played again at 11:30 am. My Mad dog was doing great he was playing and being entertained with his video game device. We even did some colouring as well. My Captain ended up winning the heart and hustle award for the game and I was so proud of him. He kept looking up in the stands while I snapped pictures. ❀️

IMG_3655

FAIL

We arrived back at our hotel very tired and hungry so it was a potluck in the lobby and I was starving. The team won their game 8-3 and spirits were high, and hockey in the hallway was being played. My Captain was hanging out with his friends, and Mad dog was running all over he was so would up that when I tried to get him from playing floor hockey to eat he just lost it. He was going up and down these steep stairs while I was getting us food. I went to take care of him and he was really upset by this time, and honestly so was I. So I grabbed him and carried him back to the room while balancing a plate of food. I was exhausted, embarrassed, and I literally wanted to crawl under the covers and cry. My husband said I shouldn’t worry we’re all parents and get it. When overtired, over stimulated, sensory, ASD behaviours rear it’s ugly head everyone gets caught in the crossfire.

FEAT

After a cooling off period we went for a swim at the local recreation centre. It was so fun to hang out and relax with my kids. I was very happy to find a hot tub and later meet up with a new friend that I’ve been corresponding with. It’s always a treat to find out you gel with someone in person as well as online. Classy from Classy with a touch of some is my sister from the vineyard. We had a lovely visit, enjoying so wine, laughter, and conversation, and she met my family. I know this isn’t always the norm to meet someone off of Facebook and really bond. I used caution as did my friend and we met in a public place. I trust my instincts and the vibes I get. God always leads me to good people, and good situations as long as I pay attention to my intuition. I have a wonderful friend as the result and we look forward to a much longer visit next time. πŸ˜ƒ
FAIL

We made it through the night with very little sleep but had a 10 am game. So breakfast was had at the hotel and off to the rink we went. The opposing team was very good and we ended up losing 7-3. It was heartbreaking to see as my son’s team was up 3-0 in the second period. We were tired and hungry so off for lunch we went. The next game wasn’t till 3:15 pm so that was a long wait. I was already high strung from having to be around a lot of people and keep Mad dog regulated. So I was just going to watch a movie and then wander in the for game. That didn’t go so great as we ended up running for a bathroom and my son had an accident. I cleaned him up and while I washing my hands he took off!!! I was able to catch him in the stands but I was really scared so we went back to the truck again. 😳

FEAT

My Captain’s played for fourth place and still made it into the medal standings. I was so proud of him and how hard he worked and that he kept out of the penalty box this game. We made it home to catch the last ten controversial minutes of the Super Bowl. All in all it was a fun weekend but four hockey games and all the activity was a lot for my sons to process. I will have a better game plan in mind for our next adventure. The next two days I was a sloth. I caught up on laundry and became a homebody for the week. So now we’re working through some potty training aggression so that’s disheartening. I have faith though we’re not giving up the dream of being diaper free, just postponing it, till we get back on track. It was fun to get away, and it’s always so rewarding to get back home. Till next time my friends enjoy your weekend making some wonderful memories. 😊

Friday’s Feats and Fails

Well it’s that time of the week, the time I look forward to. It’s Friday and I’m not watching Netflix I’m drinking beer and relaxing so with no further delay here’s the week in review.

FEAT

Well every weekend starts out with hockey so off to another game we go. Everything’s good with the Captain he’s packed up his hockey bag the night before, so we’re bound to be early. We end up still arriving with 10 minutes to spare because Mad dog has a temper tantrum about getting into his seat without his Thomas train. I retrieve said train that has been dropped in the mud and life carries on. We’re experiencing a Chinook where the weather changes from -13 to +16 overnight. So now all our snow is melting. The Captain’s team ends up winning their game and we continue on home to hot chocolate, popcorn and movies.

FAIL

I haven’t been at my most patient, my kids playing musical beds has caused that. Mad dog waits till I’m sleeping or crawling into bed and then runs and jumps into his brother’s. I let them sleep as I’m too tired to move or to sore. Then Mad dog’s restless legs syndrome takes over and he kicks the Captain out of his own bed! Then he comes to me and crawls into my bed. It’s a long endless cycle and by the time Friday comes around I’m at my wits end and feeling stabby. 😱

FEAT

I’ve kept up with the laundry and hockey practices all week and I’m feeling successful. My kids have been really happy lately so that’s always a good thing. I’ve settled my mind with all the up coming doctor assessments and received help from my former province. It’s been a relief that the squeaky, bitchy, wheel gets the grease, which is the help I need. Now that I have medical insurance the process of evaluation can commence. I took a long walk with my Mad dog while the Captain was at hockey with his Dad. I took some beautiful pictures of the sunset and have used them in my blogs. I also found out I was featured again on the http://www.originalbunkerpunks.com. I was feeling particularly vulnerable and I went to catch up on some blog reading. Low and behold I find my submission featured on the main page!!! It’s a story I wrote for my beloved Mama so I’m really proud of it. And my story I wrote of my journey to a diagnosis was featured on the http://www.mighty.com. Two features in one day, you couldn’t kick me off cloud nine if you tried. πŸ’–

FAIL

Mad dog has had a nasty cold/cough so he hadn’t had much of an appetite. When he does say he’s hungry he just wants sugary cereal. I only allow that for a special treat but I’m just happy he’s eating something. So in turn we’ve had healthier dinners than breakfast and lunches. My Captain came home from school right before I had respite for his brother. He didn’t even say hello he just burst into tears and fell on his bed. I was at loss about what to do because he was sobbing and I couldn’t understand what it was about. He finally was able to tell me that he got into trouble at school for accidentally hitting a student in the eye with a pillow. It was a mistake he was throwing a pillow onto the chair that someone was sitting on, and the kid was walking by and bam right in the eye. 😳 I had a friend of mine pass away suddenly and I’m feeling sad. He was a really wonderful man, and him and his lovely wife were like Grandparents to my sons. I sang a song for them and recorded it and sent it to the wife. She’s recovering in the hospital and I’m praying that she’ll hear I and it will bring her some comfort.

FEAT

I got that situation resolved and the Captain and the student worked out their differences and are friends. Morgan never gets in trouble at school so this was devastating for him. I took him out for hot chocolate and doughnuts just the two of us, and we had a great talk. Today a magazine that I was published in went live. I’m so excited, elated and feeling so proud. I owe it all to my beloved Mama she told me I could do anything and it feels so good to believe that again. My confidence took a shaky fall after she died and I didn’t write anywhere except for in my journal. My pain of losing her was so raw, and uncut that I didn’t think I’d be able to get through it. Well here I am today to say I am one day, one story at a time. If you’d like to read it I posted a link for it on my Facebook page.

Friday’s Feats and Fails

This week has flown by for me it seems Monday is the longest day of the week, and then I blink and it’s Friday. I’m so happy when it’s family movie night as we stay up laughing and enjoying each other’s company. So it was an eventful week so let’s get to it.

FEAT

The biggest event to happen was my Mad dog started potty training!!! Throughout the month of December I’ve been asking him if he wants to wear underwear or a diaper. Well he’s always chosen a diaper and would occasionally go potty. I let the idea be his as with his SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) it’s not something I can rush. So Tuesday morning I didn’t ask him and he told me he wanted to wear underwear! I’m so proud of my big boy he’s growing up so fast. πŸ˜ƒβ€οΈ

FAIL

Well it’s been a little testy with my kids playing musical beds lately so we all need some sleep. Tempers have been flaring and my Mad dog has learned some words that I didn’t want to hear him say. Nothing like hearing your kid say the word that rhymes with truck in perfect context. 😳 Major parenting fail on my part and I own it. So I’ve been trying to correct that behavior while the Captain giggles in the background.

FEAT

I’ve been writing lots the ideas have just been flowing to me. Taking the blogging 101 classes has been wonderful and I’m finding a lot of great feedback on what I’ve been sharing. I wrote a blog about my surviving Post Partum Depression. It was very hard to write but I had always wanted to tell my story. So I wrote it and saved it as a draft since I was unsure about sharing it. Well I woke up this morning and felt brave and hit the publish button. The response I got back was amazing. I’m so glad I faced my fears and put myself out there to help someone who needed to read that part of my journey. πŸ’—

FAIL

I’ve done zero housework it’s been tough getting anything finished with being on potty alert. So I’ve focused on that and kept up with the laundry and dishes. My kids haven’t been sleeping well so that means I haven’t either. Just as I fall asleep one of them wakes up so we’ve all been short tempered. So now I have to focus on us catching up on those missing zzzz’s and fill up our patience buckets. ❀️

2015/01/img_0639.jpg

FEAT

After completing almost all my blogging assignments this week I had some extra time to work on my book draft. I invited my lovely talented friends Loorducation and Imperfect Mom to guest blog for me. I loved having them here to interact with my dear readers and I was also on theirs. I love showcasing different content and reading these incredible ladies stories inspired me. I’ve read so many blogs lately that my books are getting jealous. πŸ˜‰ I found out this morning that another one of my submissions to the http://www.originalbunkerpunks.com was accepted. I’m feeling so grateful and weepy as it’s on their featured page. I can feel my dear beloved Mama smiling down on me.πŸ˜ŠπŸ’–πŸŒŸ

So now it’s the end of the work week so time for another action packed hockey weekend for my family and I. I love seeing my Captain out there playing hard, having fun, and making me proud. πŸ˜ƒπŸ’™πŸŽ‰

This has been my submission to Ash at http://www.morethancheeseandbeer.com. Check out how her week has been and all the other talent that link up. Smooches and hugs. 😘

Friday’s Feats and Fails

Well folks it’s that time again for another fabulous edition of Friday’s feats and fails! I get so excited every Friday for this week in review. Well tonight is the same thing every Friday laundry, wine, and Netflix so sit back grab a glass of cheer and read on!

2015/01/img_3087-0.jpg

FEAT

I’ve had an interesting week, the back to school things always hard on me and my kids. My kids enjoyed late night movies, popcorn, and not being on a schedule . Now we’re back to struggling with the routine of getting to bed early up and motivated to start the day, when we’d rather be spending days in our pj’s. I’m already looking forward to the next pro-d-day when we can sleep in and be lazy. πŸ˜‰ That being said I’ve got my son to and from school on time. Dealing with my other sensory son to get out the door when everything hurts socks, boots, pants that’s a feat in itself.

2015/01/img_2684.jpg

FAIL

I’ve been sleeping horribly since my kids have decided to play musical beds. My husband snores, I do too but that means I’m actually sleeping. Well my little Mad dog goes to sleep in his bed, wakes up and crawls into the Captain’s bed. Well the Restless legs syndrome takes over and my Captain is on the floor. So he crawls into my bed and I wake up by stretching and kicking him in the face! Then I’m sandwiched between him and his Dad listening to a mind numbing snore fest. This Mama needs her sleep without the 4-5 hours I get I’m a bitch on wheels. 😠

2015/01/img_2601.jpg

FEAT

I started out the weekend on a great note by sending my family to hockey, and I cleaned the house. It’s so great to see everything shining and clean, and I stayed on top of the laundry. As of right now I have two loads to put away, one to fold and one in the dryer! I took a great tip from my friendly follower Ricco and I separate my kids laundry from mine and the hubs and fold it neatly and help them put it away. Nothing’s backwards, shoved in, tidy and put away!!!! For those that have read my struggles before with my evil nemesis should know this rocks my world. πŸ˜ƒ

FAIL

I still haven’t put my Christmas decorations away, and the tree gets taken down tomorrow. I keep it up till Jan.6 th to honour my Ukrainian heritage as it’s the beginning of Christmas there. I made perogies, cabbage rolls, and veggies and my husband brought home Minion cupcakes. They’re the gosh darn cutest things I’ve ever seen. The fail here was it remained junky with the Rubbermaid containers in the dining room, and I couldn’t stop eating cupcakes. 😳

2015/01/img_3094.jpg

FEAT

I’ve had the honour of being featured on the http://www.originalbunkerpunks.com website and I’m so excited!!! I knew my submission was accepted 3 weeks ago but I was waiting for the website to launch. And launch it did, with fabulous writers at the helm and talented bloggers on the site, and I’m one of them!!! After I cried, screamed and danced around my house I shared it on social media and texted a few friends. I’m so proud to be Bunker punk and of the wonderful team that makes the magic happen.

2015/01/img_3030.png

FAIL

I had a Dr’s appointment for a physical so like usual I was rushing to get there. I ran out the door and proceeded to slide across the yard and slam into my gate! My husband had watered the skating rink and the water poured out and froze instantly. After I got up and rubbed my poor frozen arse I hurried down the stairs and went sprawling out into the road!!! So by the time I get up and slide on the ice to my truck I’m hurting. I arrive 5 minutes late for my physical, no worries I’m in the exam room right away. Now I haven’t told you the best part my Dr is HOT. πŸ”₯ So I’m sitting there in pain with a pulled hip muscles looking like the hot mess I am. That’s another blog in itself I’ll have to write. πŸ˜‰

2015/01/img_3033-0.jpg

FEAT

I woke with sore hips and bruises but I found out a story I wrote this week and submitted got accepted to an International magazine!!! It will featured in February and I’m so overjoyed!!!! πŸ˜ƒβ€οΈ I have an amazing blogger friend Kelli who encouraged me to submit my story based on a dream I had. So my husband and I went out to celebrate at a lovely Irish pub where I drank beer, ate appies, and toasted to my success. Our kids had a blast with the respite worker who came to look after them. Such a wonderful evening and Ive been on a high all week because of it.

2015/01/img_3092.jpg

So here it is Friday and Im reflecting back and thinking life is sweet and it’s
just going to get better and better. Thanks for riding along on my journey. Fridays Feats and Fails

Well this week went by in a blur, there was hockey, theatre practices, a parent council meeting, and very little sleep. So here I am doing a very late post, that’s really how I roll lately. So let’s chat about it shall we?

FEATS

I had a busy weekend with my Captains hockey and theatre practice. I was able to spend the Sunday morning in bed. I got the family ready and out the door for a game and I hopped back into bed. I got some laundry folded, blogging done, returned some emails and texted my lovely Mom friends. ❀️

FAIL

Even though I was kept busy I barely slept. My son, my poor little Mad dog is back to snoring and usually when that happens his sleep apnea affects him. I fall asleep listening to him on the monitor and after he snores he usually stops breathing. The gluten free or low gluten diet and medication regimen isn’t working like I had thought it would. It’s so disheartening to me so I have to get him more blood work done. This isn’t easy with a sensory condition. A lot of time I struggle with just getting him out the door to pick up his brother for school. Which is a huge accomplishment five days of week. And any additional plans met and finished are the icing on the cake of our week.

FEAT

I’ve kept up with cleaning the house and laundry and I honestly feel so good about that. I just get too scattered when I see it piling up and my house turning into a clutter zone. I completed 70 blog posts in 70 days. I’m feeling really proud of myself as I started writing as a 30 day goal and I smashed that!!! I spent the Monday hanging out just relaxing with my family. It was so fun to cuddle, watch Christmas movies as the Captain had the day off of school. After a busy weekend with everyone running in different directions we really need that to reconnect.

FAIL

The sleep deprivation has taken its toll and my fuse has been short. I’ve felt so bad lately like I’ve been a horrible parent. Then my Captain blew up at me and told me I was a horrible Mom and he wanted to live with just his Dad. It crushed my heart, and I realized I can’t help him as much as I wish. What an awful, lonely, desperate feeling that is…. I caught him in a lie, and he exploded on me, and really it wasn’t about the fib it was about his reaction to it. So I know he needs more help than what I can offer with his anxiety. So I signed up for a support group for parents of anxious kids so I can get some helpful advice and meet some other parents.

FEAT

I had a meeting with the home support society and found out I qualify for respite care. I’ll have day time help with an extra support for when I’m home, and a care giver for my youngest so I can have some me time. My husband and I will also be able to have some we time as well. Wahoo date nights after a 6 month hiatus will be so crucial to the communication in my marriage. I’m looking forward to it, although I’m a little apprehensive. I know my Mad dog is in great hands as he met the respite worker and he fell in love. They played in his room for the 3 hour time frame of the interview. He only came out to reference me once to tell me what toys they were playing with. Usually he won’t let me out of his sight for too long. So I pray that the progress will continue to be positive.

FAIL

I failed to pass my eye exam today to get my new provincial drivers license. I had to get myself to an optometrist immediately. Thank God that they had a toy room because my little boy was at the end of his patience bucket. I got there for 2:30 and didn’t leave until 4:30 pm. I had all sorts of tests done, some the usual and some new ones. My prescription has changed drastically and a cataract was discovered. I was not prepared to hear that news at all!!! So now I have to get a full medical work up to find out why the drastic change. I was asking my husband to come get Mad dog so I could talk to the optometrist as I was doing my best not to freak out. But he chose not to and I had to remind him that we do indeed have two sons. So the day was really shit tastic and all I wanted to do was run home and curl up in a ball and cry. But I pulled up my big girl panties and got ready for the opening of my pantomime play and carried on to my next adventure.

FEAT

I was ripped off by a skin care company and I found out the hard way while checking my bank statements. So I ranted, and threatened legal action and got my refund. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy anything from the company Dermajuvenate. And if you have, contact them immediately and cancel or your account will get auto ship payments without your knowledge. When something seems to good to be true it generally is. πŸ˜– So I’m considering this both a feat and a fail because I shouldn’t have gotten scammed in the first place!!! These companies prey on women who just want to look good for their age. I will stick with reputable cosmetic companies from now on. My last words to this slimy customer service rep was “karma’s a bitch and you just met her!!!

IMG_2205.PNG

FEAT

My Facebook blog page is growing steadily every day. I’m enjoying myself there, and look forward to it being more of a community than just talking to myself. πŸ˜‰ You can check it out here if you wish https://www.facebook.com/jsackmomblog
I’ve been blessed to be featured by another prominent WordPress blog site called http://featuredemagazine.com/freshly-featured/
I went there looking for some new blogs to read and potentially follow, and I found my own. Words alone couldn’t express how I felt seeing my writing along with all the other incredible talent. Elated, exalted, taken to a whole new level of happiness by that wonderful recognition. πŸ˜ƒβ€οΈπŸŽ‰
So that’s my week in a wrap up and I’ve learned an important lesson from this wonderful quote that I treasure.

Life is neither good or bad, it’s the thinking that makes it so.

William Shakespeare

Much love and blessings to you dear readers. 😘
