Ten Things of Thankful-Halloween happiness

Tonight was a special night not like any other. I have been waiting for this day to come for a year a chance when I get to go out trick or treating with my kids! My husband and I take turns every year but since I only know four people in my neighbourhood I’m anxious to see who’s really behind those closed doors. Call me curious or nosey but I like to see how people live. I feel thankful that I could participate in this night of spooky fun and enjoy the interaction of my youngest complimenting everyone on their costume. For a little boy who is severely speech delayed and socially anxious it’s music to my ears to hear him conversing like everyone else.

Each door to a house we approached opened up to new possibilities. What kind of candy did our treat givers buy, what were they watching on TV before they arrived, did they have laundry on the couch waiting to be folded like me? Each person opened their doors smiling at my children and I. I had a gangster, Batman, and myself dressed up as Wonder Woman. After about an hour of peril using our block little hands were getting cold and little feet were tired and sore. So we started our journey home to drop my little Mad dog off while the Captain and grabbed some gloves and continued on.

I saw so many amazing decorations, people dressed up to give out candy, and other parents like me in costume. I’m proud to say that I even got mistaken for a child and got candy too! I had a blast running from houses to house with my son chasing him as I’m a superhero intent on catching the mischievous mobster prolling the neighbourhood. Our neighbour went all out and decorated too and gave him quite the scare. She was dressed up as a bride covered in red paint and was holding a doll dressed the same way. When kids opened the door she put it out first and spooked whoever was standing there.

When it was my Captain and I, (while his brother was standing and waiting with Daddy) approached the door he was saying something’s going to happen as he eyed up the decor warily. And he wasn’t disappointed when she came out that door he flew off those steps backwards and landed in the yard!

We sure had a good belly laugh about that and when we were around the corner we could still hear her scaring kids and everyone laughing! I was awestruck by how much fun people were having and it reminded me back in the day when I would be out with my sister and our friends. Those nights were cold, fun, and sometimes uncomfortable in our plastic costumes overtop of our snowsuits. That’s how Canadians trick or treat, buy your costume big enough to fit overtop of your parka! Sometimes we would be up to our knees in snow and we’d be stomping around the neighbourhood in search of candy.

We ended our night with a pillowcase full of treats and went to our friends Halloween party. As always she’s an amazing hostess and had a delectable assortment of food and hot tea to warm up our bones. We talked, made new friends, and enjoyed seeing the kids playing games and cuddling the cats. We came home with full bellies, warm hearts, and so much thankfulness and appreciation for our Halloween of happiness. 😃🎃👻

I’m so happy to be part of the TOTT linkup hosted by Lizzi and her amazing Thankful tribe. My favourite place to be every weekend.😃  I did write this on Halloween night but didn’t publish till now.

Ten things of Thankful

The time has come to think of wonderful things that brought me happiness, joy, and tears. To celebrate a thankful week with blessings and gifts abundant!

I’m thankful for one last week of holidays with my oldest off to school and excited about reconnecting with his friends. And even though there’s so many changes with a new teacher, new classroom, and new classmates he’s adapting well and already looking forward to the next adventure.
I’m thankful for having my husband around the house to help prepare our kids for school; while I’m organizing, editing, and setting up my Beach Body business. I will be running my first 5 day clean eating challenge group with my team starting tomorrow. I’m excited and looking forward to gaining support and being supportive to my fit family.

I’m thankful for meeting up with my lovely friend after 25 years. We had reconnected through Facebook and chat daily but hadn’t had a face to face. So our kids had a chance to meet and we picked up right where we left off, and it’s true that friendships are meant to be can stand the test of time. To my darling I, thank you for being a beacon of light during a dark time in a long tunnel. Your faith in me and love are pulling me through each day to the light of retribution. 🌟

I’m thankful for new and exciting opportunities that are happening in my work life and personal life. I’ve been running a fun and successful Bloggy Throwback and now will shift gears and start a new segment on the submissions based website I work for. *Stay tuned for an awesome announcement on Original Bunker Punks starting Monday morning!*

I’m thankful for spending time with family and friends and all the abundant love that pours forth when we’re together. I attended my cousins 25 th wedding anniversary and I seen my brothers and other cousins that I hadn’t seen for 10 years and since the wedding! When you share a special moment with special people and are there 25 years later to celebrate again, there’s nothing more beautiful than that. ❤️

I’m thankful for how my body has been changing with each fitness challenge I complete. I’m 20 lbs lighter since April and feeling 10 times stronger! I just finished CIZE the end of all exercise and feel like I could star in one of Beach Body’s Shaun T videos! Like he says get it done even if it’s not right. As each DVD routine got more intricate my muscle memory took over and I mastered each exercise. Now I’m ready for my hip hop debut. It’s just so much fun to throw your cares and pounds away and just dance!

I’m thankful for having time to complete some projects at home while my husband was on holidays. We got the deck stained and I put together organization stations for my kids for school. All their clothes are placed in a Rubbermaid container labeled with each day of the week. With their backpacks hanging on a hook and on the weekend homework and school projects can be put into the drawers. I’m feeling quite proud of myself.

I’m thankful for the use of the timer and visual aids to help my kids get organized and out the door without being late. We all needed to have our organizational skills revamped, so the timer is our guiding light and no one argues when it goes off signalling our next thing to do.

I’m thankful for all the blessings I have in my life good health, loving family, supportive friends and seeing all my heart’s desires coming true.

I’m thankful for this linkup every Sunday to share with this amazing thankful tribe. Thank you to Lizzi and her wonderful positive movement. 😃

Awards and my forgetful mind

Some time ago I was nominated for the Liebster award from the lovely Living with Batman. I set to work with the questions put it in a draft post and promptly forgot about it; due to being sleep deprived and parenting my little ones. In that time I was nominated by Fabulously Fifty/Living with Batman New World Mom, nominated me too! So here it is two for the price of one answers to their questions of getting to know Jsack Mom better. Thank you so much for these lovely women wanting to make my day a little better. 😃❤️

Questions and rules for Liebster award

Post the award on your blog.
Thank the blogger who presented you the award and provide a link back to their blog.

HERE ARE THE RULES:

Acknowledge and thank the blog who nominated you.
Look for an award image that you like, and post it on your blog

Answer the 11 questions asked by the person/blog who nominated you.

Nominate 11 blogs

Let the bloggers know that you nominated them.

Give them 11 questions to answer.

The all important Q&A

1. Without doing an internet search, what does “Ich liebe dich” mean? Best guess.
I do know what this means, without doing a internet search. It’s “I love you” in German. My cousin speaks it and he taught me this one sentence.

2. If you could meet one blogger, who would it be?

If I could meet one blogger I’d love to meet Punk Rock Papa. I’m in great communication with him and his lovely family a lot. But to meet them in the flesh would be the ultimate. The fun, laughter, and love for each other’s family’s would be so divine.

3. What non-electronic device could you not live without?

I couldn’t live without my book light I love to read late at night in the dark.

4.  What did you want to be when you grew up at age 10?

When I was 10 I wanted to be a model, it seems laughable to me now with me being so short! But I had my childhood best friend who’s cousin was a beautiful Canadian model and I idolized her Italian beauty.

5. What is your secret indulgence?

My secret indulgence is Pinot Grigio wine with strawberries. Now you know it isn’t a secret anymore. 😉

6. What famous person has been in your dreams?

I have dreamt about Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison and having dinner with them. I ended up writing an English paper about it in high school.

7. Which super hero would you like to be?

I would love to be the X-men’s Jane/Phoenix. Being empathic I’ve felt like her on occasion except for the psychic rages and meltdowns she incurred from having to much power and not enough self control.

8. What age would you like to be frozen at forever?

I would rather not be frozen, but I’d go back in time to the age of 25. I look back on my own year being 25 and it was a really fun time in my life of self discovery, risk taking, and becoming comfortable in my own skin. I was old enough to know better and do better, and I wasn’t getting ID’ed anymore.

9. What model car best describes you?

The best model I would say is an SUV a Chevy Trail Blazer. Big enough to fit a family of four and tough enough to go off roading in the bush. I’m a family oriented woman who’s strong with a soft emotional centre.

10. Which period of time would you have liked to live in?

I would love to live in the Renaissance era. I would be friends with everyone from royalty to peasants, and wear beautiful clothes and be painted by the renaissance artists of the time. I would spend my time writing, creating art, and performing in plays and entertaining the public with my singing.

11. If you had to give up one sense, which one would it be?

I would give up my sense of smell. I love to see colours of the rainbow, feel textures of different fabrics, and objects. I love food,  almost all types that are neither to sweet or sour. Although I would miss the ability to smell a blossoming rose or lavender oil in my bath; I could still appreciate the effects of the aromatherapy.

Now onto the next set of questions from New World Mom.

1.Why did you start writing/blogging?

I started blogging because I needed a place to put all my thoughts. I filled many notebooks and journals with my feelings so why not put them out there to help make sense of them.

2. If you could meet anyone, alive or dead, who would it be?

I would love to meet the members of Fleetwood Mac and Pope Francis. Both for the same reasons too, all the love and inspiration I feel when I see them in their elements.

3. If you could play any sport professionally what would it be?

I would play volleyball professionally. I’m very short but I used to be a decent player back in high school.

4. What is your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is one I use everyday.

“Follow your bliss, and the universe will open doors where there were only walls.”

-Joseph Campbell

5. What is your favourite album (front to back) of all time?

My favourite album of all time is Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours. I listen to everyday it always inspires me.

6. Who is your biggest role model?

My biggest role model was my beloved Mama. I don’t even like saying that in a past tense although she flies with the angels. I still look to her in prayer for guidance.

7. What cheers you up?

Instantly hearing my children’s laughter. And sweet romantic gestures from my husband.

8. Do you believe in love at first sight?

I really do, I met my husband 30 years ago and he was the only one that gave me butterflies, rapid heartbeat, and giddy feelings of love.

9. What is the best compliment you have ever received?

I had a handwritten note delivered to me stating I was a babeasaurus. I was working at the time, and I literally floated all the rest of my shift.

10. Do you trust anyone with your life?

I do, and he’s always kept it very safe and protected from the uncertainties and cruelties of the world.

11. What is your favourite word?

My favourite word is SWEET!

Love in ten lines

I’ve been blessed to have a friendship that I’m thankful for every day. The first male blogger I ever read, understood, and felt understood me. The first time I read his blog I crushed hard on his words, thoughts, and heart. I’ve grown in this friendship and have grown to know and love him and his family. I still have to quiet my fan girl voice that screams in my head when we chat. The one, the only, Punk Rock Papa wants to talk to me!!! An ordinary Canadian gal who found him via a blog link up with More Than Cheese and Beer. Here we are today friends, confidants, bunker punks, and writer’s in arms. I still feel that glow of pride when I look at the first story he published of mine on the The Original Bunker Punks. Today he nominated me with a poetry challenge called Love in Ten Lines. I hope I can rise to the challenge he’s set before me with as much beauty and grace as he has.  ❤️

Love you, love me.

The love I see.

your arms love, trust.

The love I see.

Burns, love, for me.

Hold me my love.

Kiss me my love.

Absorb my love now.

My soul, love, thou.

Love quote

So now it’s my turn to nominate for this lovely challenge so I will cast my vote for these amazing poets

My #Mommitment music play list

Music is so important in my life it’s the reason I smile, my heart skips a beat, and my true passion in life. I grew up with music playing in my home constantly. From the melodic sounds of Elvis Presley, crooning of John Denver, rock and roll of Creedence Clearwater, and soft sounds of Charley Pride. I heard, learned, and sung it all. There is music that inspires me to write, sing, and create. There’s music that can lift up my spirit when it’s dragging on the floor from being sleep deprived at 2 am from a wide awake four year old. There’s music that kick starts my heart and body into action when I’m in full workout mode. And lastly music that makes me think screw all the haters as I dance around in my underwear like Tom Cruise in Risky Business  Old Time Rock and Roll style. Here’s a few of my personal favourites enjoy. 😃💃🎶
Bitch- Merdith Brooks
I have sung this loud and proud in my shower. Which everyone knows has the best acoustics next to a church. 😃

What’s Up- Four Non Blondes
This song makes me think about the state of the world we’re living in. The judgement, tyranny, anarchy, and pain mixed in with the melting pot of beauty and emotions. ❤️

Zombie-The Cranberries
This song takes my heart to a place where I feel supported, loved, and understood. I had a friend who’s dogs would sing along with us when ever it was played. Rest in peace Stan and Gary. 🌟

Kick Start My Heart Motley Crüe
My all time favourite heavy metal band on the planet. And yes this song has kicked started my heart, energy, and pushed me to the extreme in my workouts.

Don’t Stop-Fleetwood Mac
This is my theme song in life wherever I go, or wherever I am this song follows me. My heart, my love, my band is Fleetwood Mac. 🎶💞

This has been my contribution to the mixed tape #Momittment movement. I’m so happy and proud to be part of this beautiful ripple in the social media world. If you’d like to learn more about it check out Next life no kids and sign her petition. She rocks hard and so does her truth. 💗🎶🌟

One Liner Wednesday

Easter weekend came in like a lion.  The + 16 temperatures quickly went down to -1 Celscius. With the colder temperatures came the snow. As my son watched the snow falling he looked up at me with big worried eyes.

“Mama the poor Easter bunny is going to get cold feet in all that snow!”

So that smart bunny came inside and hid all those treats in our basement. A happy boy, and a happy bunny was all that mattered. 😃

Favourite

I was born into a big family there’s a large age difference between my oldest siblings and myself. I was born to parents in their forties and I was  soon to be known as the “favourite.” My middle sister was four when I was born and I think quite used to being the youngest of the family. I came along and she was excited as she was excited to be having a baby brother. When my parents arrived home with me she said I was nice, but take me back because she wanted Jimmy. I still smile about that story when I hear or think of it. Shortly after that my Dad got our dog Bo who I wrote about here  http://wp.me/s46h5g-pet

I have two sons and I don’t have a favourite. I love certain qualities about them both. They’re both my precious boys and I love them so much my heart aches. I tell my oldest he’s my favourite Captain (I insert his birth name) and how he makes me laugh and ponder the most inquisitive things that he asks me about life. I love his fabulous talent, ability to deconstruct something and fix it again. How he understands technology and can explain it in terms others can understand. His love of entertainment and how he can break into a song and dance at any given moment. He doesn’t show this side to everyone which makes it even more special.  I say to my youngest you’re my favourite Mad dog (once again he has a birth name.) I love his marvelous wit, sense of humour, his beautiful, melodic voice while he spins everything into a song. The ability he has to turn anything he’s doing into a joyful and fun event. He makes others feel better just being around him. The most favourite thing I adore about my kids is how much they love each other.

Their favourite place to hang out is together. ❤️

I believe it’s important not to choose favourites in regards to my family. My Mom told me even with having six children she would never choose a favourite. She had favourite things she loved about each of us. I reminded her of how she was as a child. I appeared shy at first then I would talk the ear off of anyone. My love of books and the written word I owe to her. She loved that I enjoyed losing myself in my books and adventures of my heroes and heroines. My Dad has favorite things he loves too about his children. He loves that I didn’t back down from a statement or thought. I entertained him with stories I wrote and songs I had sung. He always said I missed my calling in Nashville and being a lawyer, because of how much I love to sing and argue.

I enjoy having my favourite things around me like my family, friends, books, bottle of wine and drinking it without whining. If I can sit, read, and write these are my favourite things to do. I appreciate that my family give me the time and space so I can pursue these interests. Spending time outdoors walking, hiking, geocaching, and cloud watching while laying in my backyard. It’s these little things in life that my favourite people help me enjoy. Watching my favourite movies brings me joy. I couldn’t contain my delight when I found Casablanca and Singing in the rain on sale for $5 each! The closer we get to spring I’m looking forward to getting back to enjoying my favourite past time of gardening. Getting my hands and feet in the soil fills my heart with the healing green energy my soul so desperately needs. Planting flowers around my new home and making it really my own with my favourite roses, lilies, tulips, and sweet peas.

In my happy place. 😊❤️📚

Those beautiful summer days spent basking in the sunshine running, playing, sandcastle building fill my love bucket right up. Sitting by the fire on a warm evening sipping a beverage, and roasting marshmallows and hot dogs. Watching my kids laughing, playing, and enjoying the freedom that summer brings. We will have a magical summer season this year. Last year we were so busy with packing, waiting, unpacking, and making our brand new house a home. It’s those favourite things that make me sing that Sound of Music song but my own version.

🎶 Reading and writing and wine drinking evenings.

Time with my children and cupcake leavings.

Fresh books are like heaven and hugs with my love.

These are a few of my favourite blessings above. 🎶

What are a few of your favourite things?

This is my submission to Sunday Confessions with the lovely http://www.morethancheeseandbeer.com. Please check out her anonymous confession on her Facebook page. And the other talented writers who link up. Thank you for singing along with me today. 🌟

Friday’s Feats and Fails

Hello Friday where have you been all week? I have been waiting all week for today. I look forward to relaxing with my family and since my Netflix is still MIA I’ve bought a couple more movies. I wish I could figure out how to fix it. So now I have to take the time to contact the company and see if they can help me. I’ve banned my children from touching the remote controls so when I do get this resolved it won’t happen again. Well enough about that let’s chat about my week.

FEAT

Last weekend was a fun skating day at the Captain’s arena and he had fun shooting slap shots with his team mates. We had a relaxing Sunday of playing, reading, writing, and movie watching. On Monday I had a great meeting and managed to cross a few things off my giant to do list. Then on Tuesday I had respite and I did some shopping and got my hair done. It was four months of growth and it was a relief to see it gone! My bangs were eight inches long and I had zero style, except wearing an awesome hat. Who would’ve thought that all that hair was weighing down my spirit?!

A before and after picture of my hair cut. I felt so great I could’ve bench pressed a Buick.! 😃

FAIL

Laundry, laundry, laundry, I believe that’s enough said. I got five loads folded and still need to put away. Now there’s another five waiting in the wings. My friends is their life after laundry? I would say yes, but I’ve been to park everyday this week to provide fun and OT to my Mad dog. It’s been great enjoying the sunshine but nothing is getting done. 😳

FEAT

My cousin and her family got amazing news and were able to go home this week. Little Amazing Grace is off the bottle and completely breastfeeding. She was released from the hospital on the Sunday weighing 4 lbs, 4 oz. and after being home for five days she’s already up to her birth weight of 4 lbs, 11 oz!!! Her cardiologist appointment showed nothing wrong with her heart, and the Doctor’s are impressed with her feeding. For a baby that had the odds stacked against her and specialists were foreseeing what she could and couldn’t do, she is not only surviving she is thriving!!! Amazing Grace is a testament to the human spirit, of never giving up. The doctor’s can never predict that capacity of strength or the love that heals.  I look forward to the updates on Facebook and recently there’s been a Go fund me account set up for all the services that Amazing Grace will need. Such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech and language therapy. As well as what’s needed for her daily baby needs. Thank you for all your love, support, and prayers. My cousin and her fiancé are appreciative of all the love shown to their precious Amazing Grace. 💖

Amazing baby Grace day 1 in the hospital💖

Baby Amazing Grace sleeping peacefully at home in her crib. I love her so much. 💗

FAIL

I haven’t had a lot of sleep lately, so many things on my mind and the fear of the unknown can keep me awake. I know I can’t control the future and it doesn’t make sense to worry about it. But I’m just a overwhelmed Mom that gets scared sometimes and my banged up, bruised, bandaged, heart shows through. With the sleep deprivation and exhaustion setting in my patience bucket starts to empty. I had a long day yesterday and I just wanted to make the Captain’s lunch, and watch my Grey’s Anatomy. I’m a fanatic about that show and I never miss it. After picking me up from the city and getting home late my kids were still up and hyper. I finally got them to bed at 9 pm. Not usually there bed time so they were over tired and getting their second wind. I went downstairs and got ready to watch tv and then I couldn’t find the remote. DVD’s without any cases were strewn about, popcorn, and granola bars wrappers everywhere; andit looked like it puked Toys R Us!!! I started yelling, cursing, and cleaning. Which caused everyone to get upset and then my husband found the remote and set up the tv for me. I appreciated his help especially after my verbal tirade. So I finally relaxed and decompressed while watching some TV. Welcome to life in my world, where we roll with the punches and I donate to my swear jar daily.

Did Derek cheat on Meredith? Or did these lovely ladies just hear me swearing? ☺️

Even when we think we know the future even for a second it changes. Assuming the worst can happen, or we step forward into the unknown and assume it will be brilliant. -Christina Yang (actress Sandra Oh)

I really hope that these two will make their long distance work? 💞

FEAT

Yesterday I did some fundraising for my theatre group at the casino. I put in a long nine hour day there and got to know some more people, and secrets were shared in what I dubbed “the cage of truth.” I hadn’t seen anyone since December at our last performance so there were happy hugs and hellos exchanged. This was all positive and just what I needed to lift my spirits. 😃

So he we are back at Friday again that’s my week in review. How was yours? It’s time to link up with me and the lovely Ash from More Than Cheese and Beer. ❤️
